AnimationThe legend about the solar and lunar eclipses was created as an animation with the motif of the image of the old Korean painting ‘Il-wol-o-bong-do’ and folk painting.
Throughout history eclipses have been part of the lore and legends of people around the world. Eclipses were both exciting … and terrifying. How could they explain the Sun and Moon disappearing? In Korea, people thought eclipses were caused by the fire dog from the “Black Country” swallowing the Moon or Sun. In Chinese folklore, a great dragon appears to eat the Sun. People set off firecrackers and sounded drums and gongs! All to drive off the dragon or the fire dog. It always worked! The Sun and Moon always returned to the sky.
